Online Maths Test

There was an online maths test for the Computer Science students who do their Maths with Computing class with a particular lecturer. The online test was done on Education.mu website.

To be able to take the test, you need to be a registered member of the website. And then you need to register for the Maths and Statistic course.

Submission of the test:

Every students got the same questions. My queries are:

  • What if some one takes the test and copies all the questions and share with his friends? Won’t they already know the questions and answers before even attempting the test? Won’t they already score the highest possible marks?
  • The answers for the open ended questions could be easily found by doing a simple Google search or a quick search on Wikipedia.
  • What is the guarantee that the person who did the test is the one to whom the user-name and password belongs to?Some one could had easily asked a maths teacher(a friend or his/her relative) to do the test for him/her.
  • What is the transparency that the test will be corrected accordingly and without any errors?

So many questions, no answers!

    For UoM level students, I expected problems to be solved… and not theory questions to be googled :P

    if only all papers were like that :-p well think its unethical to do a test in such way as it tempts people to cheat and like you say in creole p embete to m…once I did a test where the lecturer gave us the choice to do the paper with the option of going through notes but those choosing this option will be more severely examined …

    Optimistic point of view: Perhaps it was done to know some basics of the subject… its importance and so on….but i do believe it is meant for the education.mu site to gain popularity..besides the owner is getting money from each visit!! so is it legal??
